GOD CAN HELP US CHANGE OUR LIVES
God will help us change our former conversation (way of life). God can help us change our lives by helping us change from within. We can have a change of heart, a change of thoughts, a change of mind. God can put his right spirit within us!
Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
Jesus brought us the truth. His doctrine tells us to “put off concerning the former conversation”. What does this mean to put off the former conversation?
Strongs Concordance defines “conversation” as: manner of life, behavior, conduct. Our manner of life is comprised of our internal thoughts, our words, and our actions or conduct. All these thoughts cause the way we act or behave.
We are to part from the former “manner of life, behavior, conduct” that is corrupt. As the scripture says, the thought is sin! So, we need to put off ungodly thoughts or sin. We can grow a Godly spiritual body. We can get deposits of love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, truth, strength and much more. God WANTS to deposit those good feelings to us and hep us live day to day in a happy and positive state of mind. GOD WANTS TO DEPOSIT THOSE GOOD FEELINGS TO US AND HE WANTS US TO WANT HIS SPIRIT.
So, we need to ask in prayer to GOD, “God, I need your spirit of Joy, Love and Peace.” We can ask this in faith that we will receive it. Now, God knows we are asking for his spirit and that we will ACCEPT HIS Spiritual GIFTS TO US.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
My Prayer
Dear God,
Please help me to turn away from the behaviors of hypocrisy, feelings of envy, and all evil speaking. Please cast these unclean thoughts and spirit out of me. Please add to my spiritual body your love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, truth, and strength. Amen
