“I am the light of the world.” God so loved us He sent His son, Jesus, with light for the world. Jesus came with words from God to show us how to live. Jesus said, Love, forgive, be merciful and be kind. Jesus brought the power so we can love and forgive.
Jesus said “I am the light of the world”: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12
Jesus told his disciples: “You are the light of the world.” His followers were receiving the word of God to light their way. They used the power to change their lives. They learned to love and forgive. They would teach others God’s words to light their way.
“Ye are the light of the world.” Mat. 5:14
“Thy (God’s) word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
This shows that God’s word can light our way. God’s word shows us the right way to go, the right path to walk in our lives. When it is dark, we need a lamp to show us the way through the darkness. It is dark in this world. We do not know which way to go to be safe. God’s word will light the way so we can stay alive. When we can see, we can avoid falling in the ditch by the side of the road. With a light we can avoid stumbling and falling. God’s word will show us where the pitfalls are in the way.
Jesus said: “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
The light is the life of the world. The light, God’s word, is the life of the world. The light not only helps us see where we are going in this life but will give us life eternal. We are becoming lights in the world as we use the power of God to learn to love, forgive, be merciful and kind. We can let our light shine to help others see the path to save them from death.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Mat.5:16
