God gives us his “spirit of grace” along with many other pleasing fruits of his spirit. Through our faith in his grace, God will help us “put off” the former manner of life that is corrupt. He will not only steer us away from unhappiness, but He can actually pull unhappiness out of our minds.
We can look at Strong’s Concordance for a description. It describes the grace as: the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life. (This is not our blood pumping heart, but refers to our mind). The following scriptures states God’s spirit of grace is:
It is a gift. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
It was brought by Christ. John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
It was declared(testified of). Act 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
The apostles were told to go out and preach the gospel of grace. Mark 16: 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
The spirit of grace was prophesied about. Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Grace is God’s power to get rid of the sin within us. It is a fountain to clean us. Zechariah 13:1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
We can study the scriptures to find answers to help guide us in daily life. It can also unlock deep truths. Some of these truths are like lightening. They will light up our minds and help us “see” the spiritual rewards of God’s word.
My Prayer
Dear God,
Please bring to me your spirit of grace. Please use this spirit for a divine influence upon my mind. Thank you for stirring within me a hunger for your word. Thank you for sending this power of grace to take sin away. Please God, remind me to ask you for the spirit of Christ. Please teach me how to use this holy spirit in my life. Please God, let your love, peace and mercy flow to me and help me learn to use it in my daily in my life. Thank you God. Amen
