The Security Blanket – Devotion 3

Whether or not you “believe” in the Bible, it is an excellent source of knowledge and understanding that allows us to get words of encouragement and secure feelings of hope and comfort at the same time.

We begin a process of step-by-step recognizing what caused us to be in the condition we are in, and then getting words or instructions we can use to help us overcome and get out of this state of mind, when we feel out of sorts; lonely, unloved, hurt and/or afraid.

  1. We first need to understand that we are not completely at fault when things are not going well. There were outside factors that got in the way of enjoying our lives.
  2. We got here because we were vulnerable, not having enough information to fight these “other” ideas, of feeling lonely, unloved or being hurt and afraid. We were not born in this condition of feeling this way. During our life we received wrong information and ideas on how to handle situations from others around us when we feel this way. We heard what they said, we saw their reactions to certain situations and not knowingly we accepted those as “ours”: it became how we lived our lives too. There is hope we can change.
