The Bible refers to wrong ideas and understanding as “sin”. Simply meaning not the truth, but a lie.
Proverbs 24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin:
This shows us that sin is thoughts in our minds and it is not something we were born with, in the beginning of our life. Babies aren’t born with “words” or thoughts! Words or thoughts must be taught to them. The conclusion here is, that if we were not born with wrong ideas and understanding, then there must be a way to avoid it or get rid of wrong ideas or sin.
The answer is we have a choice now, as an adult to continue to believe a lie or not. We can change our minds and get a better answer as how to take care of a situation or handle a matter. The handbook for life, known as the Bible, has the answers. Just as evil or “sin” has had much power over us, there is a higher power available to us now to overcome the situation we are in. God is that higher power and will give us greater power to not just deal with it today but enduring power that we can use all the time not only to fight against what harms us but to actually cast it out of our of lives, that is those thoughts in our minds controlling us, and replacing them with words of help, assurance, and hope, for a more productive way of living.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy:
(these serpents and scorpions are not natural physical animals or insects, they just picture things that can harm us) and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
The Bible calls our enemy the Devil. The Devil is a spirit being that has much power to control people but God has much more power and we can utilize this power to overcome evil, sin or wrong thoughts in our minds. Again, it is our choice to believe this or not.
