DO YOU BELIEVE? Those that believe will cast out (put off) bad thoughts and feelings that cause unhappiness. They will cast out their unclean thoughts (spirits). This is the sign of those who believe. They WILL engage in the practice of cleaning up by casting out the unclean thoughts from their minds. Those that believe will cast out unclean devils (spirits, thoughts) from their minds.
Mark 16:16: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
In Mark, Chapter 5, we see the practice of commanding an unclean spirit to come out of a man. In Matthew 8:16, the practice of casting out devils is also called casting out spirits: … they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick. Commanding unclean spirits to leave us is part of the process of putting off the old, ridding the corrupt thoughts and putting on the new.
Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
We can study the scripture to find answers to help guide us in daily life. We can also unlock deep truths. Some of these truths are like lightning. They will light up our minds and help us “see” the spiritual rewards of following God’s word.
My Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for stirring a hunger for your word within me. Thank you for sending this power of grace to take sin from our minds. Please teach us to use Christ as an example in our own lives. Amen
